Jody McAuliffe, MFA in Directing, Yale School of Drama, is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner(CM). Her journey into the Method began with her ballet, theater, martial arts, basketball, and modern dance training and experience. It took tennis and two frozen shoulders to bring her to Feldenkrais®. Through a life altering couple of decades of Functional Integration®, she fundamentally changed her self-image and way of being in the world. Having learned to organize herself more efficiently and live relatively pain-free, she realized her passion to become a practitioner of the Method. In her other life, she is an award-winning director, writer, adapter, dramaturg, translator, scholar, filmmaker and teacher whose artistic work has been seen across the country.
About Jody McAuliffe
Testimonials
“Jody McAuliffe introduced me to the Feldenkrais method in 2025. With regular sessions I am discovering a new kind of comfort in my body. The way I move is smoother, easier, and without pain. I feel like my cognition and locomotion are connected effortlessly. How it works is still mysterious to me, but I’m committed to the learning and practice because of the dramatic health benefits I’ve experienced.”
— Victoria Christian, LAc“I have had rich and rewarding experiences working with Jody in both Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® and Functional Integration® (FI) lessons. Jody’s years of experience with the Feldenkrais Method® enable her to understand what I might benefit from the most in any given lesson, and have provided her with a rich body of material from which to draw.
In ATM lessons she skillfully directs movements towards possible sensations with the questions she asks, gently guiding and redirecting movement as necessary. Jody’s personality shines through when she is teaching, bringing passion, humor, and years of experience in the theatre to her lessons. She’s adept at adapting the lessons she is teaching to meet the needs of the students in the class. Because of this, students who have different levels of self-awareness in movement can benefit from her lessons. Even when she is teaching a lesson with which I am familiar, her perspective on it helps me find new insights into both myself (the way I move) and the lesson itself.
In both ATM and FI lessons, Jody asks insightful questions that help me direct my attention to myself in new ways. I know she is like this with her other students as well, seeking the best possible ways to assist their growth and awareness. Jody provides creative and supportive environments in which her students can attend to themselves.”
— Carol Magee, PhD, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner(CM)“I came to Jody with a complex shoulder injury that was greatly restricting my range of motion. After just six weeks of FI lessons, I had more freedom of movement than I was able to access even before my injury. Her intuitive approach and direct communication make sessions efficient, enjoyable, and highly transformative.”
